Hoosier Cabinet ready for Fall...

I am so looking forward to cooler weather! So I thought I would go ahead and start decorating for Fall. (I usually wait until September 1) My husband found this Longaberger basket filled with resin apples for $1 at a yard sale last weekend! He's the best! I decided to nestle it in the doll carriage.

I added sunflowers to the basket of dried grasses and switched the fabric on the doors with muted oranges and browns. Underneath the carriage is a hooked rug with a primitive scene that I found last week for a dollar. I'll have to take a better pic!

So-get a jump start on all that decorating-I can't wait to keep posting pictures and idea for you!!

Peach Preserves...

 Hello Sunday blog readers!!
What a beautiful few days we've had here in Southern Indiana! A real relief after all those 100 degree days. Last week I made Peach Preserves and they turned out delicious. It was a little bit of work slicing and dicing all those peaches from the farmer's market but it was all worth it! We have had them not only on toast but on vanilla ice cream and in a milkshake! So-I encourage you to find your grandma's recipe and get to cooking! Enjoy the pics and this beautiful weather! School starts here tomorrow~so it's back to work for me. Have a safe and fun school year!!

It's a Sign~

I found this great sign today at a yard sale.
"He is happiest who finds peace in his home!"

I think that sums it up~don't you?

Ephemera and silver...

Happy Friday everyone!
I thought I'd share this idea that I threw together last night! I have had these pieces of ephemera scattered on this silver handled tray for awhile now. Then I had a spot on my bedroom wall that I wanted to fill. So I picked up a roll of double sided tape and attached the pieces together to stay on the tray. Then my talented handy hubby placed a plate hanger on the back and hung it up for me! It turned out great. Now I can enjoy looking at the pictures and little love notes all the time!

Share with me your ideas for using trays!!

~Dreaming of Fall decorating~

It's so hot out! I'm dreaming of FALL and cool, crisp weather. Not to mention decorating! Bonfires, trick-or-treating and apple cider. (I think my body temp just went down a few degrees!)
This is a centerpiece that I did last fall. I had 3 containers of various sizes. You can use anything that you have or pick something up at Goodwill or a yard sale.  Fill about half way with candy corn and nestle in a real or as I did a battery operated candle. I bought a roll of rusty orange colored tulle at a yard sale and made bows for all 3 holders.
TIP:  Candy corn can be frozen in freezer bags and used for decorating the next year to keep costs down.

So~even though it's too hot to venture outside~grad those decorating magazines and look through all those great blogs out there for Fall decorating ideas. October will be here in 8 weeks!!

~Freshened Up Front Porch~

A fresh coat of paint on the front porch did wonders for the curb appeal of my home. Now the front door really pops. When we put in a new front door last year we had to patch the spot where there had been a side light. It was one of those projects that needed finishing! Now with salvaged trim that my hubby had in the garage I couldn't be happier.Uncle Sam (a $1 garage sale find years ago) will stay in his place until after Labor Day. (When I'll be ITCHING to decorate for FALL!) The green box filled with geraniums was found in the trash! And my urns (I'm really proud of them this year!) look wonderful against the new grey paint!

Thanks for stopping by! Knock on my door and we'll have some sweet tea with an orange slice and talk about all out great finds!
