I was really excited about setting a beautiful table for Easter as well as making a wonderful meal for my family. I am more aware of how fleeting these times are that I take for granted. Catie will be leaving home for college in 3 years. I don't know that she'll be home for each holiday. So each holiday is extra special these next few years.
As we were showing my brother's girlfriend around the house for the first time Matt noticed this amazing robin's nest built into our front door wreath. He quickly snapped a pic for me because I wasn't tall enough to see inside!
So~it looks like the robin and I were both trying to make something warm, comfortable and beautiful for our families! Happy Easter Monday!

I told Matt last year that I wanted a drop leaf table. I was seeing them on pretty front porches and in antique shops and flea markets. I just loved the look of them and could just picture flowers, herbs and other pretty things on top of that table! Well~of course Matt found one for me in someone's trash a couple of months later. He never fails to amaze me by the wonderful trash he brings home! Last night he came home with a flag holder that holds little garden flags! I already have 2 but I can find room for another in the yard or landscaping!

I just love to look at this planter...
I just love this planter that Matt found alongside the road a few years ago~
I'm sure at one time it had a base.
I've planted a pink geranium (I love geraniums and of course pink is my favorite color!) with little pink and green ground cover and a trailing vine. I've also planted 4 o'clocks (seeds) that should burst through with even more color in a month or so!
You can't see it too well but their is a china plate (recently broken by my daughter~an accident) peaking out of the dirt (in 2 pieces). The china was given to my mother by her aunt for her wedding and then my mom passed it to me when I got married!

Gerbera Daisies,Hen and Chicks and Geraniums!
The kids and I planted 3 flats of annuals today! I'm going back this week for more and more and more!
Matt is cutting the grass, we've cleaned my sons room, Catie is at tennis! Whew-we have had one productive weekend!
The flowers make me so very happy! I love seeing them as I drive past the front of the house and into the driveway. The urns on the front porch are just the right punch of color to accent our red front door and bright yellow forsythia wreath!
The hen and chicks are just so fascinating to me! I've had these for years and years! They are great for filling in here and there. They love being divided and replanted! I'm planting some 4 o"clocks tomorrow and planning out my next trip to the nursery!
Hope you had a wonderful weekend like we did!

Window to the world...
When we moved the furniture around in the family room after Christmas I was left with a large blank wall! I was so excited about what I could put up there! Then my husband reminded me of a window he had found (about 5 ft x 6 ft.). It is just perfect with it's few missing panes of glass. A bay-leaf wreath and apothecary sign from my favorite store:Sugar Maples completes the look. On the left is a postcard from 1907 showing the courthouse in St. Louis. The windows on the card light up when held up to the light-it is truly a unique piece.

Vintage suitcases and enamel buckets
I love using vintage suitcases to elevate and round out my displays.
My husband found both of these at yard sales for me. I just love my Celebrating Home Veranda Easter baskets! Especially at this time of year but I decorate them for the 4th of July and Halloween also. I have 3 Easter egg picks inside the large one and the small one is filled with pastel colored sixlets candy that compliment the eggs and the white of the baskets so nicely.
Have a wonderful Spring day!
Shannon
